Captain Berg’s house

This house was the home of the distiller Gerhard Constantin Berg in the second half of the 19th century. The farm is located on Brunströmskagatan, also known as “lillgränd” among the inhabitants of Norrstan, the north side of the town. Until 1809, a toll fence ran along the entire length of Brunströmskagatan. The fence surrounded the entire town and prevented goods from being brought into Kristinestad for sale without paying taxes.
